A student inquired: "Did J.R.R. Tolkien ever travel through time?"
The truth is, J.R.R. Tolkien did build a time machine. It had the shape and design of a telephone booth. Very elegant. However, that was stolen by agents of the BBC in 1963 and used as props for some kind of television series. I forgot the name, Doctor Boo or Doctor Loo or something. Nevermind. I would be surprised to hear it became a success.
The picture shows Tolkien on one of his time journeys before the machine got stolen, probably in Lascaux, France, about 28 000 B.C., where he oversees a creative writing workshop.
